Q&A
What are you doing to promote soil health and water quality?
We have a pollinator habitat on some marginal ground that was perfect for that and we just got done redoing waterway to control erosion and runoff.
What is being done in your county to support soil and water quality?
I’m seeing a lot more buffer strips along the edges of creeks and streams trying to keep the runoff from heading down river and I’ve actually seen a lot more implementation of either reworked or brand-new waterways being put back in after all the tear-ups from the ‘80s.
What could be done with more public funding for soil health and water quality?
Personally, I’d like to see on some of that marginal ground more buffer strips or some bioreactors or the restored wetlands to keep stuff from moving out and giving farmers a bad name.
