Q&A

What are you doing to practice and promote soil and water quality?

We utilize terracing, cover crops, buffer strips and CRP programs to prevent the soil from eroding. So those are our small steps of working towards water quality with nutrient reduction.

What needs for soil health and water quality do you see in your region/county?

We repair streams and make sure that water gets filtered through waterways. When the water is running through it after significant rainfall, it does clean it. So that's one way to improve water quality is by cleaning the water through grass strips and continuing to buffer that way.

What could be done with more public funding for soil and water quality?

I do believe in some incentives to encourage some filtration or improve water quality. We all want it. How do we do it? We have to measure ourselves. Am I polluting, or can I do better? That's the big question.
