Q&A
What are you doing to practice and promote soil and water quality?
I've had my hand in many conservation practices, including grass waterways, no-till, cover crops, minimum-till, crop rotation and contour farming.
What needs for soil health and water quality do you see in your region/county?
One of the biggest things I've seen is where we have the most sensitive areas on your farm; it may need to have different practices than areas that are not as sensitive.
What could be done with more public funding for soil and water quality?
Number one, take advantage of the programs that are already in place. Number two, care about your ground enough to where you can make simple practices or simple adjustments every year to try something new to see what works. You don't have to do it on a large scale but in sensitive areas.
