Q&A
What is being done in your county to support soil and water quality?
Terracing projects have worked well. Cover crops have worked well, but termination has been an issue for some, leading to crop seedling population issues. The barrier is 'we must succeed on every acre,' so many view it as 'I cannot take the chance.'
What could be done with more public funding for soil and water quality?
There have always been funding issues. We need to know where to use funds for the most "value" at the end of the day. A source of more steady funding than the legislature filling the need, funding can be adequate one year and fall far short the next.
